The NASPS 2022 annual meeting was held in Folsom, California in October. We had 79 attendees and 40 presentations over 2.5 days. Six of the North American sturgeon and paddlefish species were represented by presenters. Two workshops, a Green Sturgeon recovery workshop and an acoustic telemetry workshop (sponsored by Innovasea), were also held.
Five student travel awards were presented. Congratulations to Morgan Anderson, Elizabeth Greenheck, Lauren Schumacher, Alaina Taylor, and Kaitlynn Weisgerber.
The Order of Acipenser is presented by NASPS to an individual for their outstanding contributions to the conservation and recovery of Sturgeon or Paddlefish in North America. This year, the Order of Acipenser award was presented to Joel Van Eenennaam, Kim Scribner, and Ed Baker. We also had the honor of presenting Ethan Mora’s (previous award recipient) award to his parents.
